Driving on the Costa del Sol
The roads are generally very good and easy to use. First time visitors will soon get the hang of entering and exiting the main motorway (A7)
The motorway and all main roads are very well sign posted
Traffic on the A7 is normally fast moving, but can get busy at rush hours especially around Marbella and Malaga
There are plenty of places for day trips in the car;
Follow the coast west and down into Gibraltar, a little further to windsurfers paradise at Tarifa. Make a day trip to Morocco from Algeciras (or 35 minutes in catamaran from Tarifa)
For a taste of Andalucia take the road inland from Marbella up through the mountains to Ronda. This is a winding road with spectacular scenery, but nervous drivers should leave it out
Heading east, Malaga city is well worth a visit, where you can lounge around in the old town, do some shopping, or visit the Picasso Museum
For culture vultures, Granada and the Alhambra are a 2 hour drive away. An overnight stay might be worth considering
